Thew Georgia high school sports community is mourning the tragic loss of Tony Dimitri, a longtime baseball coach and physical education teacher who was killed in a UTV crash in Harris County on Saturday. Authorities confirmed that Dimitri died following a collision involving a side-by-side utility terrain vehicle.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Darrell Guthrey, 44, has been charged with first-degree vehicular homicide and driving under the influence in connection with the crash. Officials have not yet released additional details surrounding the circumstances of the incident.
Dimitri was a respected educator at Harris County High School, where he taught physical education and served as the school’s baseball coach. He previously held a similar teaching and coaching position at Jordan Vocational High School in Columbus, leaving a lasting impression on students and athletes at both schools.
