Surry County, NC — Authorities are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and at least two others injured on Welcome Baptist Church Road on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 2 p.m., directly across the street from Welcome Baptist Church. The church confirmed on social media that none of its members were harmed and emphasized that the shooting was unrelated to church activities. Their post asked the community to pray for the victims and those affected by the incident.
The Surry County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations. Officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and that there is currently no indication of an active threat to the community.
