CARTHAGE, IL — The Carthage community is honoring the long and meaningful life of Frances Marie Tweedell, who passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday morning, January 25, 2026, at the age of 94. Her passing marks the close of a life rooted in devotion to family, steadfast faith, and years of dedicated service to her community.

Born on May 8, 1931, in Monroe City, Missouri, Frances was the daughter of Edward B. and Leta (Engle) Ford. She grew up with strong values that guided her throughout life and later graduated from Holy Rosary High School as part of a small but close-knit class. On May 16, 1956, she married William Matthew Tweedell at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Carthage. Together, they raised five children who remained the center of Frances’ world throughout her life.

Frances built a respected career spanning more than four decades in banking, beginning at Farmers State Bank in Ferris and later continuing at First Bankers Trust in Carthage. Known for her reliability, warmth, and professionalism, she became a familiar and trusted presence to countless customers over the years. Her work ethic and commitment reflected the same care she showed in every aspect of her life.

Deeply connected to her faith and community, Frances was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Eagles Club Woman’s Auxiliary. Outside of work and service, she embraced life’s simple joys. She loved bowling and golfing, proudly followed the Chicago Cubs, and spent many quiet hours enjoying solitaire. Her home was also shared with her beloved cats, which brought her constant companionship and comfort.

Frances is survived by her children: Jan (Brian) Bailey of Macomb, Dirk (Lynn) Tweedell of Carthage, Jill Connet of Carthage, Mike Tweedell of Carthage, and Mitch (Amy Hurt) Tweedell of Carthage. She also leaves behind a loving legacy of grandchildren, step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Frances’ life at a funeral service scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage, with burial to follow at Moss Ridge Cemetery in the Calvary section. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carthage Clipper Fire Department or Blessing Hospice.

Frances Marie Tweedell will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. Her life stands as a testament to grace, dedication, and quiet strength—values that will continue to live on through those she loved and inspired.
