Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to an early-morning shooting on the south side of Chattahoochee on Tuesday, authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. CST, when officers with the Chattahoochee Police Department were dispatched to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers located a victim suffering from gunshot injuries and immediately began rendering aid.
Police said a large crowd gathered at the scene while the officer was providing medical assistance. Due to the size of the crowd and concerns for scene safety, additional support was requested. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sneads Police Department all responded to help secure the area and disperse bystanders.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for treatment. Authorities say the individual is expected to survive.
