Mishawaka, IN — The St. Joseph County Coroner has confirmed that a shooting at Discount Tire on Grape Road Wednesday was accidental, authorities said.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Curtiss Walker, a Mishawaka resident. Police reported that the incident occurred in an office inside the business shortly before 5:00 p.m.
At the time of the shooting, employees and customers were inside the store. Thankfully, no one else was injured in the incident.
Law enforcement responded promptly to the scene to secure the area and investigate the circumstances surrounding the accidental discharge. Officials emphasized that the situation posed no further threat to the public.
The St. Joseph County Coroner’s office has ruled the shooting as accidental, concluding the initial investigation into the cause of Walker’s death.
